What Has Phill Lewis Been Up To Since 'Suite Life Of Zack & Cody'?

There is NO running in his lobby! Luckily for the beloved, yet non-existent, Tipton Hotel, Mr. Moseby is always on top of things. The character, which was a fan favorite on the hit Disney series, The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody, was played by none other than Phill Lewis.
The actor has been in the entertainment biz for quite some time, making a name for himself back in 1988 when he took on the role of Dennis in Heathers. Lewis later landed spots on The Wayans Bros, Lizzie McGuire, and Yes, Dear, to name a few, before landing his role on the Disney Channel.
While fans adored Adrian R'Mante, Ashley Tisdale, and Brenda Song, it was Lewis who was the standout star, later reprising his role on Suite Life On Deck. Despite having quite the career, fans wonder what the actor has been up to since the series, and you'd be surprised to know where Phill Lewis is today.
Where Is Phill Lewis Today?
Before we knew him as Disney's beloved, Mr. Moseby on The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody, Phill Lewis had a number of hit roles dating back to the 80s! The seasoned actor brought the Disney series to life with his strict hotel rules that Zack and Cody, played by Cole and Dylan Sprouse, always got up to.
The series began back in 2005 and lasted 3 seasons, despite fans feeling as if there was so much more than that! The actor reprised his role following the end of Suite Life on the spin-off series, The Suite Life On Deck, where Marion Moseby came back to life, but this time, at sea! It was his time with Disney that led him to find a passion for directing, and it all began with one episode!
"I directed one episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and they must have liked the job that I did because I then got the chance to direct nine episodes of The Suite Life on Deck," Phill shared with Jim Hill Media back in 2011.
"While I don't think that I'll ever entirely give up on performing, I have to admit that I do enjoy directing," hinting at a possible career shift to being behind the camera! Despite his love for directing, Lewis continued appearing on-screen, even securing a spot on JESSIE!, where he appeared alongside former co-star, Debby Ryan.
Although the actor took a hiatus from acting in 2016, the actor came back to the spotlight last year when he appeared on the TV series short, The Healing Powers of Dude. Phill then scored a spot on Second Team before landing a number of episodes voicing Duper on American Dad!
Phill Lewis' Run-In With The Law
Prior to Phill Lewis landing his role with Disney, the actor had a run-in with the law! In 1991, a then 24-year-old Phill was driving in Potomac, Maryland when he fatally struck a 21-year-old nanny, Isabel Duarte, who passed from the injuries she sustained during the accident.
The actor crashed into Isabel's car head-on, which was later proven to be due to Lewis' blood-alcohol levels being three times the legal limit at the time. Phill was then convicted of a DUI as well as manslaughter with a motor vehicle in 1993, later being sentenced to "five years in prison, two years of probation, and 350 hours of community service", says Distractify.
Phill Lewis spent a year of his sentence behind bars and it was all thanks to his involvement in his work with a prison-based theater troupe that performed in jails, schools, and churches to highlight the effects of drug abuse, reducing his sentence dramatically.
Luckily for Lewis, his career picked up shortly after, and the actor was back on track with his career and a somewhat healed reputation, especially following his Disney days!
